Position Description
Junior Staff is an ideal position for campers who are 17 years of age looking to experience Camp Lilac from the staff perspective. Junior Staff pay reduced tuition of $475, as they have staff-related responsibilities. In addition to kitchen/dining room duties, Junior Staff will cover the cabins of staff having their evening off. Junior Staff are also welcome to participate in, and/or assist with activities as they would like, when off-duty. This is a one-week position. Seventeen year olds are also welcome to register as regular campers.

Junior Staff will:Â
Live in their own cabin together
Report to a crew chiefÂ
Cover nights off for cabin staff
Communicate effectively and compassionately with coworkers and campers
Give and get support through regular check ins with other junior staff and crew boss
Perform all duties considerate of a range of experiences and needs, with a focus on creating an accessible environment and experience for all
Attend staff training beginning on Friday before camp
For 2 meals per day:
Bring family-style dishes to tables and return them to kitchen to be refilled during meals
Reset the dining space after meals (wash dishes, sweep/mop, wipe down tables, take out trash)Â Â
Physical Requirements
Traversing up to half a mile at a time (with or without reasonable accommodation), likely multiple times a day
Navigating uneven terrain (with or without reasonable accommodation) such as muddy trails with tree roots, gravel paths, inclines, stairs
Accurately exchanging information with other staff members and with campers in a timely way
Remaining present for all assigned shifts.
Exceptions to these requirements can be made with permission from the director, and as long as all camper and staff needs are met.
