Mission & Values

Our values guide every choice we make, from how we plan events to how we welcome each camper, select and support our staff, and build memorable traditions. They reflect the world we want our campers to experience at Camp Lilac, and to build beyond it.

Learning

We seek to learn about ourselves, each other, and the world around us. We recognize the unique ways we learn from adults, peers, and through reflection, ourselves.

Individuality

We value and uplift individuality. At camp, we explore, discover, create, and express our own unique sense of self.

 

Liberation

We create a space where trans people can thrive and belong, existing outside of judgment and the expectations of cisheteronormativity. We believe in optimism as an act of resistance.

 

Agency

We recognize that we all have control over our choices, and from that comes the power and responsibility to impact ourselves and our communities.

 

Community

We build community — the Camp Lilac community, our home communities, and the global trans community. We seek to strengthen these communities, centered in a culture of consent.
